This lecture is being given by Professor Patrick Vallance, President, Pharmaceuticals R&D, GlaxoSmithKline. He  will tell the story of how the search for a new medicine begins, how clinical proof of concept is obtained, followed by the passage of the medicine through the late stages of development and ultimately regulatory approval.
